October 9, 2009 - Rib-X Co-Founder Wins Nobel Prize in Chemistry Thomas Steitz, Ph.D., Sterling professor of molecular biophysics and biochemistry and professor of chemistry at Yale University, is one of three winners of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work describing the structure and function of the ribosome, the protein making factory key to the function of all life. "I am excited by the prospect that our work on the structure of the ribosome and mechanisms of antibiotic binding is leading to potential new chemical classes which have the potential to treat a wide variety of multi-drug resistant bacterial infections," commented Dr. Steitz.
