Research done by scientists in a former telephone switch station in downtown New Haven is helping to produce vaccines at record speeds and vast quantities to keep people around the world healthy. VaxInnate is a privately-held biotechnology company developing novel, proprietary vaccines for both pandemic and seasonal influenza. The company was founded by two Yale School of Medicine professors in 2002. VaxInnate uses new technology to produce vaccines more cost-effectively and quickly than more traditional methods. This is one of more than 30 bioscience companies doing business in New Haven, employing nearly 400 people – and delivering benefits to people worldwide. The city’s growing bioscience sector is fed by cutting-edge research being conducted at both Yale University and the Yale School of Medicine. In the past 15 years, university research has led to the creation of more than a dozen companies and countless licensing agreements with established corporations.
